E-mobility: New station at Memmingen Airport
A new era of electric mobility has begun at Memmingen Airport. As more and more passengers come to the airport by e-car, they can now power their vehicles there at a new charging station. The new e-charging station was inaugurated today (June 23rd) by Steffen Bilger, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
“Electromobility is on the rise. I am therefore delighted that Allgäu Airport is now taking account of this development with such a modern facility,” explained State Secretary Bilger. Together with Stephan Stracke (CSU), member of the parliament, he inaugurated the facility. “Electromobility keeps taking off in the Allgäu region. This requires a comprehensive charging infrastructure. I am very pleased that the federal government has supported this future-proof mobility at Allgäu Airport with 145,000 euros,” Stracke explained.
The new e-charging station has ten charging points, which are all supplied with green electricity from the airport’s photovoltaic system. “In this way, we are making an important contribution to climate neutrality and making arrivals and departures even more environmentally friendly,” emphasized airport CEO Ralf Schmid. The new e-charging station is located in the immediate vicinity of the terminal. The charging stations are covered and connected to a so-called backend system, which is used for billing. As long as a vehicle is being charged, no parking fees are incurred. The charging stations are equipped with a telephone fault hotline, which can be used to get help with charging problems 24/7. Because of the fact that they are fast charging stations, vehicle drivers have the possibility to charge their companions in a short time before they start their trip or after they return home. During the absence, the vehicles must be parked in one of the parking lots.
The new filling station is a project of Airport Energie Management GmbH, a subsidiary of the airport and e-con AG from Memmingen. Airport Energie Management GmbH bundles the airport’s expertise in the field of renewable energies and will continue to expand it in the future.
